THE LANDSCAPE OF CHANGE: STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES

We are living in a time of change, which brings uncertainty to individuals and organisations, whether the change is planned or imposed. On a personal and organisational level, it's helpful to recognise the feelings engendered by the continual process of ending, transition and new beginnings.
The stories we tell ourselves are a powerful indicator of how we manage the process of change. These stories may be limiting but can also offer strength and support. In this workshop we will explore personal stories, their impact on our lives and our ability to manage change. There will be an opportunity to examine, reflect and re-write aspects of our stories to embrace what is more pertinent to our lives now. Our imaginations, embodied coaching and creative methods allow insight and the opportunity to explore new directions.

Embodied Coaching Method

The training focuses on the Embodied Coaching Method (Lederman & Stacey), a coaching approach that uses embodiment and the arts to raise awareness through exploration of body process, image and metaphor. This method allows expression that may not be possible otherwise and enables layers of meaning to emerge and be explored. (Lederman & Stacey 2014, Coaching Today).
This 2 day workshop will provide experiential training supported by theory and debate. Delegates will have the opportunity to work on their own process whilst learning how to transfer this knowledge and skills to their coaching practice.

EMBODIED COACHING & THE INNER CRITIC

Creative Expansion explores the psychological dimensions of coaching allowing sustained change at a deeper level.

How could you have been so stupid? You look ridiculous. No one is listening to you. What on earth will they be thinking about you? Why can't you do this? Everyone else can. You couldn't possibly achieve that.

Most people have a well-developed Inner Critic that can at times destabilise even the most confident. So often this can trigger shame, that crippling internal state that we try so desperately to conceal.

In this workshop we will reflect on the Inner critic and how it can impact our coaching. How does it appear and take hold? How do we recognise it? How can we support our coachees to stay grounded and curious rather than be paralysed by their critic?

This workshop is designed for coaches who wish to explore this fertile but often avoided area.

The training focuses on the Embodied Coaching Method (Lederman & Stacey), a coaching approach that uses the arts to raise awareness through exploration of body process, image and metaphor. This method allows expression that may not be possible otherwise and enables layers of meaning to emerge and be explored. (Lederman ↦ Stacey 2014, Coaching Today).

CREATIVE AND EMBODIED COACHING : AN INTRODUCTION

"This way of working allows expression that may not otherwise be possible and enables layers of meaning to emerge and be explored."
Lederman & Stacey - Coaching Today (2014)

This introductory workshop is designed for coaches who wish to draw upon creative approaches to further develop their coaching skills.

Course overview

A range of creative arts will be introduced, including working with images, metaphor, drawing and movement. There will be a particular focus on attending to the non-verbal and visual communication in the coaching setting. The training uses the Embodied Coaching Method (Lederman & Stacey), a coaching approach that raises awareness through exploration of body processes, image and metaphor using the arts. This approach supports expression, communication and transformation and can add an extra dimension to your coaching practice. The course will be experiential and there will be an opportunity to engage in the creative process to connect with self and other as a way to enhance the process of change. There will be the opportunity to reflect on and explore your personal style of practice to support your professional development.

BEYOND OUR DEFENCES: DEALING WITH DIFFICULT EMOTIONS

Creative Expansion explores the psychological dimensions of coaching allowing sustained change at a deeper level.

As children we develop defences to manage anxiety and to protect ourselves from conflict and disturbing emotions. As adults these defences are often still active in situations where we don't need them. However, we are often unaware of their presence and how they impact our behaviour when working with others.
In this workshop we will look beyond the defences and shine a light on some of the unsettling aspects that are hidden in the shadow, such as: jealously, shame and anxiety. These are often played out in leadership dynamics, power games and organisational systems. An awareness of these processes provides the opportunity for change to take place.
This two day workshop is designed for coaches who wish to explore this fertile but often avoided area. The workshop will draw upon creative approaches to further develop your coaching skills in addressing difficult emotions.

The workshop will provide experiential training supported by theory and debate. During the workshop the participants will have the opportunity to work on their own process while learning how to transfer this knowledge to their coaching practice.

LEADERSHIP RELATIONSHIPS: USING CREATIVE IDEAS TO EXPLORE RELATIONAL DYNAMICS

"Greater self-awareness is the first step towards becoming more effective as a leader." Kets de Vries - The Leader on the Couch (2006)
In this workshop we will explore different models of personality and their relationship to leadership styles. In particular, we will look at how these patterns of behaviour impact professional relationships in the workplace.
On the course participants will be introduced to current thinking about personality adaptations found in leadership and will learn how to work with their clients to develop effective leadership styles.
Personality adaptations are patterns of behaviour that originate in childhood. These adaptations colour the way we perceive our internal and external worlds and our relationship to others. Understanding and raising awareness of these patterns can enable the client to enhance their relational dynamics.
Creative Expansion's training programmes address the psychological dimensions of coaching. In the workshops creative methods such as arts and bodywork will be used to provide an additional dimension and pathway to implicit knowledge.
The course will be an opportunity for further personal and professional development as a coach through experiential learning.
